Can Win XP recognize 4GB?

I am using a Netbook with 1 GB ram.  The log-in time into Win XP is very long (I have minimize the programs in the system tray & msconfig).  When I just bought and used it, the log-in time is very short.  2GB does not make a big difference.  Will 4 GB help?  Can Win XP recognize 4GB?  Thank you for your help.

WINXP can use 4GB  ^^
